Represent. Green life, suckas.

This is the design I submitted for a contest on www.greeneyed.com, a really cool company that makes reusable tote bags for shopping and such. If you like it, you can vote for me HERE and help me to win 500 bones to help me pay off some student loans. And buy wine. Lots and lots of wine. Seriously though, check them out, there is some cool stuff on there, including designs by the Notorious K.O.B, and TuRic Shakur. Wordemup, youse guys.

Snallygaster Book

So, a few weeks ago I received an amazing gift...2 SIGNED COPIES OF "SNALLYGASTER: The Lost Legend of Frederick County"! This was a fantastic project I worked on with the author, Patrick Boyton. Here are a few glimpses of parts of the book I worked on, and you should all do yourselves a HUGE favor, and buy this beast HERE. Check out the official site, www.marylandmonster.com and show the dreaded Snallygaster some love. MAKES A GREAT HOLIDAY GIFT!

Moving Along

Alright kids, so some things are now officially in motion, now I just have to wait...sorry, I worry about revealing too much for worry of superstition. Sorry, when I find out one way or another, I will tell all. Anyway, the cartoon stuff has been a refresher, but I am ready to get back to a grittier, more textured process, so this may be the last post of the fun-lovin' stuff for a while. I am working on updating my website, though, and am most likely going to have a cartoon-type section, so keep your eyes out. I love you all. Skeleface or die.

Okay, so I am a total jerk. One month has passed since my last entry. Feel free to let me know how much I suck. There will be more this week on things that are happening, hopefully big things. Skeleface or die.

I apologize, these are terrible photos with all kinds of blow-outs and weird shadows, but I just wanted to give you all a sneak peek at what I am hackin' out right now. I will post more soon, including quality scans of these two pieces.

Urban Threads Wrap Up

Ok, to bring this full circle, here are a couple of pictures of how the Urban Threads Halloween design I did turned out for practical application. I dig it a lot, and I use this bag for everything. It was an honor to be the October guest artist, and the bags are great! THANKS AGAIN NIAMH!!! Check out all that Urban Threads has to offer.

Breaking the silence with SCREAMS OF HORROR!

Hey Folks,

So, I am settled in San Francisco, have reliable internet, have somewhat of an idea as to how my scheduling works, and am ready to get back on the horse named "Blog." To begin with, I will wrap up a couple of tabled topics.

First, here are some images accepted into a group show in Massachusetts called "Passages of Death." The show is curated by Art and Discord, and it will be held at the Visions Art Gallery from November 1st through December 3rd. The show revolves around the ideas of death and the afterlife, so, obviously, I chose to contribute monsters, ghosts, and ghouls.

The Weeping Creep (Framed Print for $100)

The Spectre (Framed Print for $100)

Monster Kid (Framed Print for $100)

If anyone is interested in purchasing prints of these images (or any other, for that matter) just shoot me an email and I will get you pricing options.

I will write again soon, I promise. It is great to be back with all of you.

Album Design

This is for The Vintage Mink, a local Minneapolis rock band that is totally sweet. Check them out. I will post more after this process of moving 1800 miles away is over. Sorry, loyal followers, for the severe lack of new material. Just stick with me, though, as soon as I get to SF everything will kick back in again double-time. You guys are the best!

Horror! by Skeleface for Urban Threads

Hello everyone,
I was graciously asked to be a guest artist for the Halloween season of my good friend and colleague Niamh O'Connor's killer custom embroidery company, Urban Threads. I was honored to have been asked, and wanted to give something nightmarish enough to qualify, yet appealing enough to a larger audience for them not to be disgusted. This is the tentative result, as I am still awaiting approval, so imagine seeing this embroidered on a sweet messenger bag!

So the evil genius behind Prrty Food, Joseph Gillette, has constructed and launched an official website for all of his psychedelic children. He has awesome stills from his video performances, illustrations, and photos of the live performances he has done. Check it out NOW and get to know these lovable and hopelessly dysfunctional characters as they make their way through a vivid, Technicolor world in pursuit of lost pigs, mermaids, and of course, dolphinzzz. I am telling you, Prrty Food is fresh as hell, and everyone should join in the fun by crackin' a handle of Jack and foolin' around with laser guns.

Work update!

Okay, here are a few samples of what I have been up to (outside of my F@#%ING JOBS).

This is still in progress.

Also still in progress.

A super crappy scan of a painting...STILL IN PROGRESS!

I usually only get time to work on these after I get home from work at around 10:30-11pm, and I work on them into the wee hours of the morn before going to work again at 9am. And that is only when there is no freelance to be done, so progress on personal work has been a bit sluggish, but I hope to have a decent body of work to start soliciting to galleries by the end of October. Wordemup, Ghoulies.

Update

Hello Ladies and Ghouls,

So, good news. KAREN AND I GOT AN APARTMENT IN SF!!! Super kick-ass, decently affordable (by SF standards) and right in the thick of it. That being said, I am now feverishly working at my day jobs, as freelance has dried up, to make all the money I can to get my ass on the road with Miss Karen O. However, I am forcing myself to take a bit of time to get back to some of the personal projects I have been cranking on for a while, and will post some of the progress and results this weekend. I am having a great time with some good old pencil and paper, so stay tuned. Also, keep up on our new zombie blog, Zombie Nation at www.ilovetheundead.com. Our friends at Revenant Magazine have been pumping it, and I hear we will have a bit of press coming from a podcast. CHECK IT. Word.

Darkness on the Edge of Town

I apologize for the stagnant blog lately, folks, but I am feverishly trying to find an apartment in SF with the lovely Karen O and my brain is slowly melting and leaking out of my nose from the stress. Not to mention between my two day jobs I am pulling roughly 70 hours a week. But, much beside the point. Life is kicking ass, and I want to share some of the Kick-Assness with all of you. Darkness on the Edge of Town Paranormal Radio Show. Super awesome, super spooky at times, and always hilarious. Follow Dave Schrader and Tim Dennis through their adventures in audio as they interview some of the biggest names in the paranormal field, discussing topics from U.F.O.s to cryptids, ghosts to demons, and a hell of a lot more. There is roughly two years worth of show archives, and they have recently moved to FM talk radio! Oh, and these two ghost-chasing goofballs are from Minnesota. Skeptic yet open, these guys are a blast to listen to and it makes for great entertainment while trudging through the daytime hours at work, and also while creepin' at the drawing table during the hours of darkness. Check them out, everyone, you won't regret it.

Revision!

Hey Skelefolks,

Here is the revised, and incidentally final, version of Jimmy Calabrese's portrait. It turned out well, I think, and it was a blast, really, going back into this piece and reworking it. It is up on House of Mysterious Secrets, and you should all check it out.

Calabrese=Kickass Horror Rock

That's right, these boys are crankin' out the tunes full of death, destruction, ghouls, ghosts, vampires, and everything else that my life revolves around. I have been listening to these fellas for a while now, and have always been impressed by the artwork used on their albums, posters, and merch. So, naturally, when I found out they are DIY and hire on artists themselves, I did my best to appease the Horror Gods, and they were kind enough to give me a shot. So, I was hired to dress up their blog for them with a header, blog-separator, and a portrait of my good man, Jimmy Calabrese. So here are the finished pieces, and I encourage you all to CHECK THESE GHOULS OUT!!! Website AND BLOG, House of Mysterious Secrets. Seriously, super catchy music, with awesomely dark lyrics, all wrapped up in a screaming, bloody bundle. So here are the pieces.

This one is an image for the break in between blog posts, similar to IWYS.

This is the title banner for the blog, House of Mysterious Secrets.

And this is the portrait of Jimmy Calabrese, who enjoys skeletons, H. P. Lovecraft, and The Creature From the Black Lagoon.

So, I would just like to formally thank Jimmy again for giving me the opportunity to make some work, and I will try my damndest to keep getting the word out about you boys!

Davey Wong's Wonderous Work ...whoa.

Seriously, I stumbled across Davey Wong's work as a fellow supporter of AKU Wear and man, it made my day. This guy's paintings of this wicked looking ape dressed up as all kinds of Golden Era pulp archetypes are amazing, but what really caught my eye were his paintings of Hedorah, the Smog Monster from the Godzilla series. My love for the idea of Hedorah goes deep, and Davey has captured the character in an amazing light. So, take a look at these pictures that he so graciously allowed me to post, and then CHECK OUT HIS WEBSITE! You won't regret it.

This is a rendition of the infamous Goblin, a character created and owned by Ric Schuster. I have a button with this dude's face on it that is totally kick ass, and it is also a button whose eyes light up on Ric's website. Gangstas straight outta Nilbog.

Sketch Samples for a Storyboard

These are some samples for a storyboarding gig I might be doing at the big Bullseye in the sky. Not freelance, but it would be fun. The last two are sketches from old freelance, and are included solely for the purpose of establishing a clear depiction of my style.
